Academy LMS ships fully translation-ready, and it integrates directly with the free Loco Translate plugin so you can translate every string in the plugin’s interface into your site’s language without editing any code or managing .po/.mo files by hand.
Loco Translate is a separate, free plugin available from the WordPress.org plugin directory. It must be installed and activated before Academy appears as a translatable project inside it.
How to set up
1.Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for “Loco Translate,” then Install Now and Activate it if it isn’t already active.
2. Go to Loco Translate > Plugins in your WordPress admin.
3. Find Academy LMS in the list of translatable plugins and click it.
1.On the Academy LMS project page, click New language to start a translation for a language that isn’t listed yet, or click an existing language to continue editing it.
1.Use Loco’s translation editor to translate each string, then click Save. Loco compiles the .po file into the .mo/.json files WordPress actually loads.
2.Switch your site (or the relevant user’s profile) to the target language under Settings > General > Site Language (or the user’s own Profile > Language) to see the translated strings in use.
How the integration works
Academy registers itself with Loco Translate as a translatable project, so it shows up automatically in Loco Translate > Plugins — no manual configuration needed on Academy’s side.
Academy keeps its translation files synced in the background: whenever the plugin’s source strings change (e.g. after an update), Academy’s sync routine merges any existing translations against the current strings, so translators don’t lose work already done when Academy is updated.
Translations are compiled to .mo (for PHP-rendered strings) and .json (for the React-based admin screens and course builder) automatically, so both the wp-admin screens and the frontend course player pick up your translations.
Always translate through Loco’s editor (or another standard .po editor) rather than editing compiled .mo/.json files directly — Academy’s sync process works from the .po source file.
