The Grade Book addon adds a grade point system to your courses. You set up a scale of letter grades, and Academy LMS works out each student’s final grade automatically from their quiz and assignment scores.
Note: Grade Book is a Pro addon.
Step 1: Enable the Grade Book addon
Go to Academy LMS → Add-ons, find Grade Book, and turn it on.
The first time you turn it on, Academy LMS creates a default set of 8 grades for you:
Step 2: Review or edit the grade scale
A new GradeBook menu appears in the sidebar, with Student Grades and Grade Builder. Open Grade Builder to see the grade list.
Click Add New Grade to create your own grade. Each grade has:
Fill in the fields and click Add Grade. You can edit or delete any grade from its row’s Action menu.
If you ever delete every grade, the Add New Grade button is joined by a Generate Grade button that recreates the same default 8-grade scale in one click, so you do not have to disable and re-enable the addon to get the defaults back.
Step 3: See student grades
Open GradeBook → Student Grades. This list fills in as students earn grades, showing Student Info, Course Info (with a quiz and assignment count), Creation Date, Final Percent and Final Grade for each one, plus a Details action for a full breakdown.
A student will not appear here right away. A Final Grade only appears once a student has completed the entire course, every lesson, quiz, assignment and any other curriculum item, not just the graded ones. A student who is still partway through a course, even after taking every quiz and assignment, will not have a row yet.
Grades in a course
Once your grade scale is set up, it applies automatically to quizzes and assignments inside any course. You do not need to assign a grade scale to a course by hand. If you have not created a course, quiz, lesson or assignment yet, see the related Academy LMS docs for those first.
Troubleshooting
If a student who has clearly finished a course is still missing from Student Grades, check whether every curriculum item, including plain lessons with no quiz or assignment attached, is marked complete for that student. A single unfinished lesson is enough to hold back the Final Grade.
