The Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) plugin is one of the most popular solutions for selling digital products with WordPress. With Academy LMS, you can easily integrate EDD to sell your online courses. This guide will walk you through the steps to set up this integration.

Prerequisites #

Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

• Academy LMS installed and activated.
• Easy Digital Downloads plugin installed and activated.
• Academy LMS Easy Digital Download Integration Add-on activated.

Setting Up Easy Digital Downloads with Academy LMS #

Follow these steps to set up Easy Digital Downloads with Academy LMS:

1. Install and Activate the EDD Plugin

2. Navigate to Academy LMS> Addon, and enable the Easy Digital Downloads addon.

3.  Set Easy Digital Downloads as your eCommerce Engine. To do that navigate to Academy LMS settings, locate the payment section, select Easy Digital Downloads as your eCommerce Engine and save the settings.

After successfully enabling Easy Digital Download, now simply follow the steps discussed below to make a paid course.

Create a Paid Course with EDD #

First, Create a Download in EDD, that you can link to a course. To do that follow the below instructions:

• Go to Downloads > Add New.
• Enter the title and description of the download.
• Set the price for your course.

When all is done click on the publish button to publish this download.

Link the Download to an Academy LMS Course #

Now link that download to a course. Select and open the course you want to link with this download. Then, from the course type section, set the course type to paid and select the download you created on EDD.

Click Publish to make the download live.

Automatic Download Creation #

Creating downloads for each course every time is so boring. With Academy LMS Pro, you can automatically create the download when you click on ‘Paid’. You can create a download, make a course paid and sell with EDD without creating a new download on EDD. To do that head over any course you want, create a download and make a paid course. 

On the course creation page, select the course type as paid and it’s down. You have successfully created a download and made a paid course automatically without creating a download on EDD. Now set a price for the course and publish or update the course to make it live.

Note: For doing automatic download creation, you have to set the eCommerce engine to Easy Digital Download.

Configure Payment Gateway #

To configure the payment gateway navigate to Downloads > Settings > Payment Gateways Choose and configure your preferred payment gateway(s). After choosing your payment gateway, save the settings.

And that’s it! You’re now ready to sell your courses using Easy Digital Downloads with Academy LMS.
