The Registration Form block is Academy’s current, flexible sign-up block. Unlike the legacy Instructor and Student Registration Form blocks, it’s built from individual Form Field blocks nested inside it, so you can add, remove, reorder, and relabel fields, and the same block can register either students or instructors depending on a single setting.
How to access
1.Go to Pages > Add New (or edit an existing page) to open the block editor.
2.Click the block inserter (+) and search for Registration Form. Select it to insert the block. It comes pre-filled with a default field template: First name, Last name, Email, Password, and Confirm password.
3.With the block selected, open the Block tab in the settings sidebar. Under Signs up, choose Students or Instructors — this changes who the form registers as and updates the submit button’s default label.
1.Click inside the form and use the + inserter between fields to add more Form Field blocks (text, paragraph, email, phone, number, date, dropdown, choice, or checkbox), or select an existing field to edit its label, placeholder, help text, required state, and width from its own Field settings panel.
2.Click Publish (or Update) and then View Page to see the rendered form. View the page while logged out for the true visitor experience.
The editor shows a warning banner if the form is missing any of the fields required for an account to be created (email, password, confirm password). Add them back using the + inside the form.
Block settings
Signs up — Students or Instructors. Determines which role the submitted form registers the visitor as, and sets the default submit button label (“Register as Student” / “Register as Instructor”). New instructors wait for admin approval unless auto-approval is turned on in Academy LMS > Settings.
Button — custom submit button text. Leave empty to use the role-based default.
After signing up, go to — URL to redirect to after a successful sign-up. Leave empty to redirect to the dashboard.
Show a log in link — toggles a “Already have an account? Log in” line below the form.
Button (color, under the block’s Color panel) — sets the submit button’s background color independently of the block’s other color settings.
Form Field settings
Each field inside the form has its own settings panel:
Type — Text, Paragraph, Email, Phone, Number, Date, Website, Dropdown, Choose one (radio), or Checkboxes (not shown for the built-in account fields, which have a fixed type).
Label — the field’s visible label.
Placeholder — placeholder text (not shown for choice-type fields).
Help text — optional helper text shown under the field.
Required — whether the field must be filled in. Always on and locked for the account fields (email, password, confirm password).
Width — Full row or Half row, for laying two fields side by side.
Saved as — the meta key the field’s value is stored under (not shown for the built-in account fields). Academy Pro profile fields require this to be unique per form.
Choices (for Dropdown, Choose one, and Checkboxes) — add, edit, or remove the field’s options.
Profile fields beyond the built-in account fields (first name, last name, email, password, confirm password) display with an “Academy Pro” note in the editor and require Academy Pro to actually save on submission.
The block also supports wide/full alignment, and the standard WordPress Color, Typography, Border, and Spacing panels, plus three block styles (Default, Card, Plain).
