Academy LMS 4.0 splits quiz work in two. The quiz builder walks you through one quiz in three steps, and the question bank keeps every question you have ever written in one library so you can drop the same question into as many quizzes as you like.
Note: Quizzes is a free addon. Four of the seven question types (Dropdown, Short Answer, Image Answer, Fill In The Blanks) need Academy LMS Pro.
Before you start
Step 1: Turn on the Quizzes addon
Go to Academy LMS → Add-ons and search for Quizzes. It sits under Course Features. Switch the toggle on.
This adds a Quizzes menu with three screens: All Quizzes, Questions and Quiz Attempts.
Step 2: Open the quiz list
Go to Academy LMS → Quizzes → All Quizzes. Every quiz is listed with its Questions Count, Created date, Author and Status, and you can filter by All, Publish, Draft, Pending or Trash.
Click Add New Quiz to start one.
Part 1: Build the quiz
The editor has three steps across the top: Quiz Info, Questions and Settings. A tick appears on each step as you complete it, and you can jump back to any step at any time.
Step 3: Name the quiz
On Quiz Info, fill in Quiz Title (1). Description (Optional) takes formatted text if you want to explain the rules before students begin.
Click Save & Continue (2) to move to the questions.
Step 4: Add questions
The Questions step lists what the quiz already holds, with a drag handle on each row so you can reorder them. Two buttons sit at the bottom:
Step 5: Write a question
Add Question opens a form with everything about one question on a single screen:
|
Field |
What it does |
|
Question Title |
The question itself. Switch between Plain and Rich text for formatting and formulas. |
|
Audio (Optional) |
Attach a clip for listening or language questions. Takes MP3, WAV, OGG and M4A. |
|
Image |
Attach a picture to the question. Takes JPG, JPEG, GIF and PNG. |
|
Add Description |
Extra context shown with the question. |
|
Add Explanations |
Shown after submission, when the quiz setting for it is on. |
|
Question Type |
One of the seven types below. |
|
Point(s) |
What a correct answer is worth. |
|
Question Level |
High, Medium or Low, used to filter the bank later. |
On the right, Question settings holds Answer required, Randomize Answer, Display points, and Negative Marking, which deducts points for a wrong answer. Leave negative marking at 0 to switch it off.

Without Pro the four Pro types still appear in the list, marked [PRO] and greyed out.
Step 6: Reuse a question from the bank
This is the point of the bank. Click Reuse Content and a panel opens listing every question you have written, each tagged with its type and level. Search by text, narrow by level, tick the ones you want, and they join this quiz.
The question is not copied. It is the same question, so the bank’s Used in count goes up and editing it later updates every quiz that uses it.
Step 7: Set the quiz rules
|
Setting |
What it does |

Hide question number |
Hides numbering during the attempt. |

Quiz Feedback Mode decides what happens during the attempt:
Part 2: The question bank
Step 8: Browse every question
Academy LMS → Quizzes → Questions is the library. Each row shows the question, its Type, its Level, the Points it is worth, and Used in, which counts the quizzes holding it. A question that belongs to no quiz shows Unused.
Step 9: Find, import and export
Above the table you can search question text, filter by All Types and All Levels, and sort by newest, oldest or title.
Export writes the questions out, and Import reads them back, which is how you move a bank between sites or keep a backup before a big edit.
Part 3: Around the quiz
Step 10: Lock the browser during an attempt
Browser Lock is a single site-wide switch, not a per quiz one. The quiz Settings step says so and links to it.
Go to Academy LMS → Settings → Pages → Learn Page and find Quiz Proctoring. Turning Browser Lock on asks for fullscreen when an attempt starts. If the student leaves fullscreen they choose to return and continue or to finish the quiz. The attempt is never failed or submitted for them.
Step 11: Review attempts
Academy LMS → Quizzes → Quiz Attempts lists every attempt with its Course, Questions, Answers, Marks and Result. Open one to see the attempt in detail, and use Export to take the results away as a file.
Step 12: Put the quiz in a course
A quiz only reaches students once it is in a course. Open the course, go to the Builder, and expand the curriculum section you want. Use Add Content on that section and choose Quiz, then either pick your quiz from the list or create one without leaving the course.
Troubleshooting
A Pro question type is greyed out.
The four Pro types are marked [PRO] and disabled without Academy LMS Pro.
Editing a question changed another quiz.
That is the bank working as designed. Reuse Content shares one question between quizzes rather than copying it. Check Used in on the question bank before you edit, and write a separate question if you want the quizzes to differ.
There is no Browser Lock option on the quiz.
It is site-wide. Set it in Settings → Pages → Learn Page under Quiz Proctoring.
Students see fewer questions than the quiz holds.
Check Max Questions allowed in the quiz settings. A value above 0 limits how many are shown.
The question count on the quiz list looks wrong.
The list counts the questions attached to that quiz, not the whole bank. A question used by three quizzes counts once in each.
