In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to use the Academy LMS Certificate Verification shortcode. This feature allows students to verify their certificates using a unique code, ensuring authenticity. Before we start, make sure you have the necessary plugins installed and activated.
Prerequisites #
To use the certificate verification feature, ensure you have the following:
- Academy LMS (Free version 2.1.0 or above) – Installed and activated.
- Install and activated aBlocks (Free version) – a Gutenberg page builder plugin for WordPress. aBlocks is mandatory to create certificates using the Academy LMS Certificate add-on.
Once these plugins are ready, you need to enable the Certificate Add-on from the Academy LMS add-ons section.
Step-by-Step Guide on How to Use the Certificate Verification Shortcode #
Enable the Certificate Add-on. Go to Academy LMS in your WordPress dashboard. Navigate to the Add-ons section.
Toggle and enable the Certificate Add-on.
Set Up Certificate Verification #
After enabling the add-on, go to the Certificate you want to set up with verification.
This can be either a Primary Certificate or an individual Course Certificate. Open the certificate in Gutenberg Editor. Click the Plus (+) icon and search for the Academy LMS Certificate ID block.
Insert the Academy LMS Certificate ID block into the editor. Now you are done, click to save your changes.
Now, a verification area will be added to the certificate. When a student completes the course and downloads the certificate upon course completion, they will receive a unique verification code with their certificate.
Generate the Certificate Verification Shortcode #
Navigate to Academy LMS > Tools > Shortcodes. In the Shortcode section, you will find the Certificate Verification Shortcode below on that page. Copy the shortcode.
Create a Verification Page #
From your dashboard Go to Pages > Add New. Name the page (e.g., “Certificate Verification”).
In the Gutenberg editor, click the Plus (+) icon, and select the Shortcode Block.
Paste the copied shortcode into the editor. Publish the page.
Test the Certificate Verification #
Once the page is published, a certificate verification field will appear on the page. Student or anyone can enter their certificate verification code here to verify the certificate.
- If the code is valid, the verified certificate will be displayed.
- If the code is invalid, an error message will appear.
