As one of WordPress’s top membership plugins, Restrict Content Pro provides exceptional functionality. Combined with Academy LMS, it unlocks powerful options for membership management and course access control. Note that this plugin is not included with Academy LMS and must be purchased individually.
This guide explains how to set up and use the Restrict Content Pro addon step by step. Before you start, make sure you meet the following prerequisites:
Prerequisites #
- Install and activate Academy LMS Free Version 2.3.0 or above.
- Install and activate Academy LMS Pro Version 2.3.0 or above.
- Install and activate the Restrict Content Pro plugin.
Once everything is set, you’re ready to proceed!
Make sure all required plugins are installed and activated before starting. Then, go to the Academy LMS Add-ons section and turn on the Restrict Content Pro Add-on.

Creating Membership and Assigning Membership to a Course #
Create a Membership Level:
- Navigate to the Restrict Content Pro menu.
- Click on Membership Levels.
- Create a new membership level by filling out the necessary details and saving it.

Assign Membership to a Course #
Go to the Academy LMS Courses section. Open an existing course or create a new one. From the Course Edit Page, locate the Course Type option on the right side.
Select RCP Membership as the course type. A list of all created memberships will appear. You can search for a specific membership here.
Add your preferred membership to the course. Click Update at the top right to save the changes.

Here is the preview of the created membership with RCP. Students will now need to purchase the selected membership to access and enroll in this course.

Adding Membership Manually #
Add a Membership. Go to the Restrict Content Pro Memberships area:
- Click Add Membership.
- Select a membership level from the dropdown menu.
- Fill out the required fields, such as user details and membership details.
- Click Add Membership at the bottom to save.

The user will now have access to the membership level you added.
Remember you need to add a minimum of 2 users in a level to access the membership level.
Note: Memberships grant access to specific courses, course categories, or the entire LMS portal. They do not allow tracking of course or instructor earnings. To manage sales commissions, set up a separate agreement with instructors.
