How to Use Course Export/Import Features in Academy LMS?

The Course Export/Import feature in Academy LMS allows you to efficiently manage your course content by exporting existing courses and importing them as needed. This functionality is particularly useful for backing up courses, transferring them between different Academy LMS installations, or sharing them with other instructors.

Note: The course export/import feature in Academy LMS has a dependency on the Pro version. Without the Pro version, only the course and its associated lessons can be exported and imported, while other curriculum components will not be included. However, if the Pro version is activated, the complete course, along with all added curriculum elements, will be successfully exported and imported.

CSV File Example

To create a CSV file for course import in Academy LMS:

  1. Header Columns: Include columns for post_title, post_author, post_date, course_type, course_benefits, lesson_content, quiz_content, etc., as per Academy LMS structure.
  2. Fill Details: Add course-specific details such as title, author, description, difficulty level, pricing, and enrollment limits under the appropriate columns.
  3. Organize Content: Populate lesson_content, quiz_content, and assignment_content fields with associated data, such as video links, quiz questions, or assignment instructions.
  4. Formatting: Ensure consistent formatting; for example, use commas for lists and proper identifiers for video sources or external files.
  5. Save & Import: Save the file as a CSV and upload it through the Academy LMS course import feature.
  • Batch Imports: For large numbers of courses, it’s recommended to import up to 500 courses at a time to ensure optimal performance. You can use online tools like ExtendsClass to split large CSV files if necessary.
  • Data Accuracy: Double-check your CSV file for accuracy to ensure all course information is correctly imported.
